As “The Sopranos” won its last Emmy Award on Sunday night at the Shrine Auditorium, everyone at the awards began the scramble for their limos, heading out for a big night on the town. Some stayed behind to hit the Governor’s Ball, however – winners Jamie Pressly, America Ferrera, Helen Mirren, Sally Field, and Robert Duvall stayed around for that one. But most people had picked out their favorite place to be, and that took some driving.
The hottest ticket of the night was the Entertainment Tonight/People magazine party, held downtown at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Hot because of the sophisticated venue (never used for an after party before) and the band (Duran Duran) set to play; so it was no surprise that the limos lined up out front, pouring out famous faces.
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (”Ugly Betty”) winner America Ferrara clutched her golden statue and smiled for the cameras, looking fantastic (sans braces and glasses, of course) in her cobalt blue jewel-toned Monique Lhuillier gown. “She made this dress for me,” the first-time winner said, “I love it, it feels really good.”
“Grey’s Anatomy” stars Ellen Pompeo and Kate Walsh obviously felt good too, as they both looked stunning. Pompeo wore a strapless navy Michael Kors gown with a matching jacket and Fred Leighton jewels, while Walsh chose a form-fitting, ruby-red, plunging neckline satin number from Pamela Dennis. Debra Messing (”The Starter Wife”) may have lost the Emmy, but she won the fashion race, in a gorgeous Ralph Lauren gown that she “snatched right off the runway” at his Spring 2008 show last week.
Felicity Huffman and hubbie William H. Macy boogeyed down to the sounds of Duran Duran, while Hayden Panettiere, Lisa Rinna, and Tori Spelling checked out the Maybelline swag booth set up in one corner of the concert hall’s vast lobby. Jeremy Piven held court at the bar with his second consecutive Emmy for his work in “Entourage,” much to the delight of Ali Larter.
Other beauties on hand for the fun were Jennifer Love Hewitt, Vanessa Williams, Ana Ortiz, Daisy Fuentes, Jane Krakowski, Jeri Ryan, and Rebecca Gayheart, along with handsome hunks Rick Fox, Tim Daly, T. R. Knight, and Harry Hamlin.
