Her character can’t seem to find romantic happiness on “Grey’s Anatomy.”

But Ellen Pompeo has found it off screen: She and record producer Chris Ivery have married after dating for three years

The nuptials were performed at City Hall in New York. Mayor Michael Bloomberg was a witness at the ceremony Friday.

Pompeo has been the unsung strength of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” She has kept Meredith Grey appealing during up-and-down stories and the off-and-on again romance with McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey).

But Pompeo hasn’t received any Emmy recognition like winner Katherine Heigl or nominees Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson. Yet “Grey’s Anatomy” owes a good deal of its appeal to the lead actress — the anatomy wouldn’t mean much without a likable Grey.
