Screencaps from last night’s episode:
ABC kicked off its portion of the Television Critics Association midseason press tour by breaking a little news: The network has officially renewed six series — Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Castle, Modern Family, The Middle and Cougar Town — through next season.
Conspicuously missing from the pickup list are Sunday staples Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. Although DH creator Marc Cherry has a deal in place for two more seasons, the show’s core quartet — Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria — will see their contracts expire at the end of the current season. As EW reported earlier this month, negotiations are already underway on new pacts that would keep them on Wisteria Lane for another season or two.
Brothers & Sisters, meanwhile, remains firmly on the bubble. Encouraging ratings this fall led ABC to increase the drama’s episode order from 18 to 22, but insiders say there’s a 50/50 chance the Walkers will bow out in May.
“Isn’t she a doll?!” Ellen Pompeo gushed to Ellen DeGeneres about her 4-month-old daughter, Stella Luna, her first child with hubby Chris Ivery and whose picture she happily showed off at today’s taping.
The photo of daddy holding baby is the first Pompeo has allowed to go public.
“Chris loves dressing her up like him,” the Grey’s Anatomy star said, noting their similar plaid button-downs.
“This works out well for you then,” DeGeneres said, presenting Pompeo with a wee “I Heart Ellen” onesie for Stella after hearing that Ivery likes running around the house in the Ellen-monogrammed underwear the talk-show host gives to her guests.
“You know, it’s the highlight of my life,” Pompeo said of the ego boost she gets from seeing her name stamped across her husband’s bottom.

Guests – like Grey’s Anatomy costar Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart – feasted on a chef’s choice tasting menu, which included Maine sea scallops, chestnut tortelloni and truffle mac ‘n’ cheese. Then, it was time for dessert and another treat: “They sang “Happy Birthday” and Chris smiled through the whole song,” says an onlooker. “He and Ellen were really cute together, she wanted to him to have fun and enjoy his birthday.”
